WASL ("we", "our", or "us") operates the WASL mobile application (the "Service"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data.

WASL is strictly a technology matching platform.
We connect users seeking transportation ("Passengers") with independent third-party drivers. We DO NOT provide transportation services, we are not a transportation carrier, and we do not own or operate vehicles.
Because drivers are independent contractors, necessary data (such as location and name) must be shared with them to facilitate the ride. This policy outlines how that sharing occurs.
1. Location Data & Background Access
đ Location Data Disclosure
This app collects location data strictly to enable the core service functionality:
- Matching: To find drivers or passengers near your current position.
- Navigation: To calculate distances and fares.
For Drivers:
WASL collects location data even when the app is closed or not in use (background). This is strictly required to:
- Dispatch ride requests that are near your current physical location.
- Allow passengers to see your vehicle approaching the pickup point.
We DO NOT share your location history with advertising agencies or unrelated third parties.
2. Information We Collect
A. Personal Data
While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information, including:
- Identity: Full Name, Profile Photo.
- Contact: Phone Number (used for authentication), Email Address (used for receipts and account recovery).
- Vehicle Information (Drivers): Brand, Model, Plate Number, Color.
- Verification Documents (Drivers): Driver's License, Vehicle Registration, National ID.
B. Financial Data
We do not store credit card details directly. However, we collect:
- Transaction History: Records of rides taken and amounts paid.
- Wallet Top-up Proofs: Images of bank transfer receipts uploaded by drivers for wallet recharge verification.
C. Device Permissions
- Storage / Gallery: Required to allow you to select and upload verification documents and profile photos from your device's files. We do not access your camera directly.
- Phone State: To facilitate direct calls between Passenger and Driver (via the native dialer).
- Notifications: To alert you about ride updates, offers, and chat messages.
3. How We Use Your Data
WASL uses the collected data for various purposes:
- To provide and maintain the Service.
- To notify you about changes to our Service.
- To allow you to participate in interactive features (bidding/negotiation).
- To provide customer support and resolve disputes.
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues or fraud.
4. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We respect your privacy. We only share data in the following strict circumstances:
- Service Fulfillment (Matched Users): During an active ride only, your First Name, Rating, and current Location are visible to the specific Driver/Passenger you are matched with. This allows them to find you. Once the ride ends, this sharing stops.
- Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services for specific technical functions:
- Brevo: For sending OTPs and transactional emails.
- OpenStreetMap/OSRM: For mapping and routing services.
- Legal Authorities: If required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., in case of an emergency SOS trigger).
We do not sell your personal data or location history to advertisers.
5. Data Security
The security of your data is important to us. We use standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS) for data transmission. Sensitive verification documents are stored in secured storage buckets with restricted access.
6. Account Deletion
You have the right to delete your account and associated data at any time.
Method 1: In-App Deletion
- Open the WASL App.
- Go to Settings in the side menu.
- Scroll down and tap "Delete Account".
- Confirm the action. Your data will be scheduled for deletion immediately.
Method 2: Web Request (No App Required)
If you cannot access the app, you may request deletion by contacting our support team directly:

- Subject: Account Deletion Request
- Details: Please provide the phone number associated with the account.
Upon verification, your personal profile, photos, and location history will be permanently removed. Some transaction logs may be retained solely for tax, accounting, and legal compliance purposes as required by law.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
